Treadmill Buyers Guide: Find the Best Treadmills for Home
Nowadays, treadmills are very expensive. Hence purchasing one that is unreliable could prove to be costly. This is the Treadmill Buyers Guide that would help you in differentiating high-quality machines from poor ones.
This editorial is ideal for those who are planning to buy treadmills but do not have much knowledge about it. Now, you will become familiar with all important components that are part of the treadmill so you can purchase a quality machine.
Finding the Best Treadmills for Home…
These are the important attributes to look at in order to find the best treadmill for your home
Motor –
The motor is the most expensive and important part of the treadmill. It powers the entire machine. And so without the motor, the treadmill is of no use. When you look at the motor, you should focus on its size (bigger the better) as well as quality first.
The motor could be DC or AC. Unlike the commercial treadmills that offer DC or AC units, usually home machines are DC units. AC motors are better as compared to DC ones but they are also noisier. They even require dedicated lines of power.
Horsepower -
The motor power of the treadmill is known as horsepower. It could be measured in two ways, continuous duty or peak duty. Peak duty HP means it might be capable of reaching specified horsepower briefly, however, it would be unable to sustain it consistently. Continuous duty HP means the motor is able to maintain specific horsepower for the entire workout. Serious runners should go for treadmills with 2.5 HP motors of continuous duty or a minimum of 2.0 HP continuous duty. Those with a penchant for walking could go for a continuous duty 1.75 HP motor.
Speed –
Speed range of most treadmills is 0 to 10 m/h, which is sufficient for regular runners. But hard-core runners would require more intensity for having productive workouts.
Belt –
The belt is known as the machine’s running surface. It should be able to accommodate users. Big individuals should go for wide belts. Long legged individuals should try long-tread ones. No matter which size you opt for, see to it that you are able to run comfortably. The minimum length of the running surface ought to be 45 inches and the width should not be below 16 inches. This space would be ideal for most runners.
